New media artist Richard Vergez aka Drowning the Virgin Silence brings a fully realized two track lp to d/a73 imprint; dark, abstract, ambient and imposing without being overbearing…
Drowning the Virgin Silence explores electro-acoustic and post-industrial music, through the use of prepared tapes and manipulated sound. It is the solo project of visual artist Richard Vergez based in Brooklyn, NY. Conceived in 2005 as an outlet for musical ideas based on invisible movie soundtracks, the project utilizes manipulated tape loops as the main compositional methods. Vergez also utilizes various synthesizers, field recordings, echo guitar, oscillators, and some percussion to create music that can best be described as post-industrial and ambient.
Vergez as Drowning the Virgin Silence has performed alongside Bill Orcutt, Lussuria, Kama Rupa, and Kenny Millions, as well as participating in the International Noise Conference for 3 years in a row. He has released music on Robert & Leopold, //Cae-sur-a//, Goat Eater Arts, and Reverb Worship.
